Moneydance overview
Moneydance is a full-featured personal financial management application that includes features such as online banking, online bill payment, investment management, budget tracking, scheduled transactions, check printing, detailed graphs, reports and much more. Moneydance's easy-to-use interface sets it apart from other financial software.
Features
- Online Banking - Moneydance can automatically download transactions and send payments online from hundreds of financial institutions. Moneydance learns how to automatically categorize and clean up downloaded transactions.
- Account Graphing - Use the graphing tool to generate visual reports of your income and expenses. Set the graph type, the date range, and any specific settings for the type of graph you desire. Pop-up balloons display more information about the data being graphed as you move the mouse pointer over different regions of the screen. Graphs can also be printed or exported to image image files.
- Reminders and Scheduled Transactions - Transactions and notes can be easily scheduled to remind you when they are coming up or are past due.
- Account Register - This is used to enter, edit, and delete transactions in an account. It is visually similar to a paper checkbook register, except the calculation of balances and sorting of transactions is all done automatically. Entering transactions is easier with the payee auto-complete feature; this reduces the number of keystrokes necessary for entering many similar transactions.

- Fixed a bug that prevented the Undo/Redo menus in some windows from being updated.
- Ensure that the monthly calendar shown on the summary page always starts out with the first-day-of-week setting from the preferences.
- Fix timezone parsing when encountering date strings with timezones in OFX files.
- Fix Tag Total report bug which showed incorrect values when transactions with multiple splits referenced tags.
- Don't enable the fee field or category when editing bank transactions in an investment register.
- Improved readability of the custom color theme editor window.
- Ensure console menu button icon is visible in all color themes.
- Added preferences option to not show the splash screen.
- Fixed a bug when printing reports while using a dark color scheme, which caused the reports use to light colours for the report text.
- Fixed an issue which could cause delays and heavy RAM usage when making updates while the net worth toolbar graph was visible .
- When syncing data recorded on mobile devices, moneydance now applies updated exchange rates to inter-currency transactions.

I like the ease of use. Tracking my investments (Brokerage account, IRAs, CDs), daily is a couple clicks. Multiple credit cards, checking and savings accounts with categories I create and summaries are simply tracked and searchable. Visually appealing and informative graphs for expenses, net worth, etc are built in. I easily made graphs (e.g. utilities usage) on whatever date ranges or from whatever selected accounts I desire. Reconciling my accounts with statements is easy.

Having the app on my iPad as well as my laptop are synced without me being a IT wizard. I don't use the features to automatically sync with the banks, but may try it in the future.

I recently had a great customer service experience with Moneydance. We are all trained to expect bad service, black hat tactics to discourage refunds, etc. I got the trial version but couldn't test past the limited transactions of 100. Then I bought the full package and imported several years of transactions from my prior financial software. I found my Mac M1 was using more RAM than usual for a program but it worked great. The only problem was that it didn't run the exact financial reports I needed to run. I contacted customer support and they responded within 24 hours. I told them my issues and requested a refund. Maddy was courteous and offered to help address my issues, but I opted to take advantage of their 90-day no-questions refund. Then less than 24 hours later, I got the refund notification. I wish other companies were so responsive like Moneydance, I almost want to work for them, send in a resume. Pro Tip: You can import more than 100 transactions on the trial version to test the reports you can generate. I love the no-subscription option Moneydance offers and recommend the program to anyone interested. Just make sure you test it out and it meets your exact requirements.

This is a fine personal finance app. it has necessary features and is easy enough to use.
One time purchase license option and cross platform support is big advantage over other popular apps.

Was a long time user of Microsoft Money but when MS stopped developing / supporting the software I spent a long time researching alternative programmes. Eventually I decided to settle on purchasing MoneyDance. Best decision I have made as MoneyDance has satisfied all my requirements. Easy to use and regularly updated free of charge. Budget options excellent and the programme is very customisable. Only grip is my inability to use the software on my iPad / iPhone with regard to keeping the database synchronised. Otherwise highly recommended.

Somehow my application of Moneydance crashed and when it opened all data was lost. My backup files are gone, so all my data from 2017 to now (July 2020) are gone. I tried to contact support, however they only have an online form and have yet to answer me. Do NOT buy this app, look elsewhere.
